57The New Testament
The Bible is considered a book of books. While Genisis, Exodus and Leviticus are filled with fascinating historical perspectives they are not considered the best place to start for knowledge about what it means to be a follower of Christ. The story of Jesus is contained in the New Testament, specifically in the first four books of the New Testament, including Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.
1. John was one of the original twelve followers. John is credited for writing the gospel of John, written with a specific focus for people who do not have a Jewish background. John also wrote three letters to the churches of his time, 1 John, 2 John, and 3 John. In order of imporantance reading the gospel of John is a good strategy for starting to read through the bible. John is also credited for writing one of the most cryptic books of the Bible; Revelation.

5. Paul, he is credited for more books that any other author in the New Testament. Paul wrote Romans, First Corinthians, Second Corinthians, Galatians, Philippians, First Thessalonians, Philemon, 1 and 2 Timothy and Titus. Romans is a difficult book to read, about theology. Theology is simply the study of God. The book of Romans is a complete summary of thought pertaining to a Christian world view. About 1982 I remember asking God for the wisdom to make the Bible more interesting and understandable to me. I was having a hard time making sense of what I was reading. God answered my prayer. I haven't been able to put it down since.
The more I read the Bible, the more I have come to understand and experience how powerful God really is and how much He truly loves us.
The Bible is His love letter to me and to you.
